Undergraduate Admission Requirements and Foundation Programs in the UK
As the secondary education system in Turkey and UK are different, the UK university admission requirements for students who have received their secondary education in Turkey are different. Students who graduated from a type of high school in Turkey that is not recognized by the British high school system cannot directly start their education in a British university. A student who has graduated from a Turkish high school and wishes to attend university in the UK would need to have a good level of English and in addition to attend a foundation course for 2-4 semesters in order to qualify for admissions to a British university. During the foundation course, which is offered by most universities and private education institutions, the student is given supportive classes in subjects such as Science, Mathematics and Social Sciences, depending on the department they want to study at the university. Students are trained during the Foundation course according to the department they want to study and students who have successfully completed the Foundation course are admitted to universities.
Applications
In order to apply directly to undergraduate programs of universities in the UK and to receive placement, you must have an A Level or an IB Diploma. In addition to your A Level and IB grades, your English level must be at least IELTS 6.0. The universities you want to apply to may have their own special conditions and requirements. Applications are made through UCAS.
